Turn it around, Daniel, and allow the 40-year old self give you advice….
“Buck up, you’ve been inspiring a generation to do what they’ve known is the right thing to do. Don’t stop now. This is too important. If you make mistakes, they’re just opportunities to course-correct and refine. Keep it up, I’ve built my reputation on your good work.”
(Hey, I’m just channeling the 40-year old you. Enjoying the youth for a brief moment. 😎… and that very cool Irish ☘️ accent)
I think this is a common feeling for anyone who moves beyond researching their own family tree to undertaking a project of wider significance to the community. We focus on all the (unending) things we see that could be done as part of that project, rather than the things we’ve already been able to make available and the usefulness and importance of that. Others just see the latter. On a good day we see that too.
Another thought for you, Daniel... Check out the amazing work of the Human Rights Data Analysis Group, you might find new insights from reviewing their approach to tracking global human rights abuses: https://hrdag.org/coreconcepts/

I don’t think you could possibly let anyone down!
It mightn't seem like that's possible, but it sure feels like that's possible some days...
I know how you feel!
