This is lovely. My 18 year old son managed to finally track down my birth father’s family for me - he’s also an excellent genealogist, and managed something I’d never been able to do, despite my being an ex-archivist! So important to tell these stories.
Lisa, thank you so much! I'm so glad your son was able to do that for you, I'm sure it was a collaborative effort to make that happen. 🙂 (On an off topic note, please let me know if he is ever looking for his own peer group of genealogists to join - I'm in a Discord server filled with over 540 young genealogists all over the world!)
I am pleased you did publish it Daniel. As an adoptee myself, it's always heartwarming to hear about reunions like this. I am so pleased your mother has been able to make this connection and, with your help, to find the missing pieces. From my experience, its absolutely vital to know who we are.
You've presented a lovely outcome to an otherwise harrowing story. You & your sister are wonderful examples of this fragile gift of life we genealogists all try to illuminate for others. So delicate is the balance that brings us all here. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Your mother's journey is a journey for you and your sister as well because it is your lineage and your identity just as it is hers. I'm very happy you are documenting this and sharing the stories. How wonderful it must been for your mother to see she looks like someone!

I’ll let him know! It’s definitely not cool if I suggest it directly, but hopefully he’ll happen across it one day. 😎
I suppose, but you could say that a 19 year old genealogist suggested it! 😀

Thank you, Jane. We weren't sure how far we would get but we're absolutely elated that this was possible. ❤️
This is a moving story. Thank you for sharing it. Your work is important.

Believe you, me - I was amazed I was that patient as well. 😅
